We are seeking a senior People & Culture Business Manager to join Discovery Networks Sweden for a fixed term contract of 13 month, starting in October! The Team

Discovery’s People & Culture team provides leading edge solutions to support the growth, development and engagement across the Nordic organization. The team operate as one and it is a team of doers. As People Partners, the People & Culture team are trusted advisors to the business and collaborate with People Specialists to deliver programs and results across the organization.

The Role

The People & Culture Business Manager is responsible for providing a blend of strategic and tactical People & Culture support, to attract, develop, engage and retain top talent within the Nordic region. Working with a diverse range of stakeholders and levels within the organization, the role will support the delivery of the People & Culture strategy. In close collaboration with the International and Nordic, Discovery People and Culture teams, you will manage the day-to-day People & Culture operations activity for Sweden based employees; as well as two Nordic functions, ensuring that a consistent approach is implemented across the entire organization and that this is considered in the context of the wider business units that the teams are part of.

In this role you will partner closely with the business to anticipate and deliver programs, products and solutions to keep talent engaged and the company competitive. In your own team you have a People & Culture Advisor and a People & Culture Coordinator reporting to you, you report to the Director of People & Culture Nordics. You will be the lead in key People and Culture initiatives and change programs; advising on Swedish employment law and supporting managers with performance management, business transformation, succession planning and talent management.

You act as a People & Culture coach, advisor and partner to the local management team and continuously strive to provide “best practice” HR advice and support, through information sharing internally and external benchmarking, and you contribute on broader People & Culture projects across the Business. You will have close collaboration with the Shared Services Center based in Warsaw.

Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to the business strategy; provide People & Culture expertise and challenge to the local management team
  • Develop pragmatic and robust solutions to People and Culture issues in conjunction with the business and the People and Culture Team
  • Proactively provide creative and engaging solutions to motivate employees at different career points
  • Provide expertise, consultation, and coaching to all levels of the organization on ways to address employee behavior and performance concerns
  • Partner in analysis and revision of people programs, policies, and practices to sustain a positive work environment for Discovery employees.
  • Independently handle and drive sensitive HR matters in timely and fair manner
  • Interpret and apply an understanding of company policies and practices, employment law, and other regulations
  • Partner with the business to develop People and Culture plans in line with the business strategy and deliver against them

Who you are

The ideal candidate for this position has strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to work successfully on a broad a spectrum of employee relations issues and projects. You should be confident in acting as a sounding board and coach to business managers; providing them with exceptional HR support, advice, guidance, skills and tools to proactively manage their teams effectively.

You are confident with operating within an international matrix environment and you have a winning way of managing, and proactively partner, with different stakeholders within the organization.

We think that you have experience from working in high-volume, fast paced environments, preferably in a fast-growing technology company as well as experience in multinational companies with self-service approach towards HR/P&C. You are well versed in HR Operations, preferably cross countries, and you have previous experiences of leading others. Previous experience of shared services is an advantage.

You need a solid knowledge of labor law & regulations in Sweden, general knowledge of the employment legislation within the Nordics is a plus. You must be able to exercise a high level of independent judgment and have the ability to make sound HR related decisions that enhance the business’ performance with little direction, whilst ensuring they are complying with local practices, laws and regulations across other legal jurisdictions.
